Adair O’Grady has spent the first day of seeding with his father for the last 30 years—it’s one of the most exciting times on the farm.
But excitement quickly turned into Adair’s worst nightmare.
“I was on the ground dialing in the air seeder — unaware I was in a blind spot — and was inadvertently run over by a service truck.”
Struggling to breathe with broken bones and a punctured lung, Adair remembers being in the back of the STARS helicopter, wondering if he would survive.
His flight paramedic and nurse gave him the hope and encouragement he needed to fight for his life.
“I’m amazed by the gifted individuals at STARS who put their hearts into their work. As I watch my children and my crops grow, I’m incredibly grateful.”
Its stories like Adair’s that encourage our team at Viterra to support the vital, life-saving service that STARS provides across the prairies.
“STARS provides such an important service and our annual calendar campaign shows how communities will come together to support a worthy cause,” said Nikki Deobald-Churchman, Facility Sales and Admin at Viterra Rosetown.
Over the years, STARS has touched the lives of Viterra employees, customers, and their families. This partnership helps ensure that STARS can continue to provide immediate medical attention when it's needed most.
“It’s reassuring to know that this service is available to us in case we ever need it, especially in rural Saskatchewan,” says Nikki.
